Samantha Lockwood is a multi-talented artist.

Samantha grew up in Los Angeles and La Quinta, CA. In her youth she began absorbing a love of the arts from her parents – her father is the veteran actor sci-fi icon Gary Lockwood of ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ and her mother is successful actress and entrepreneur Denise DuBarry.
At age 16, Samantha began her acting study fundamentals at the Aaron Speiser Acting Studio and simultaneously she was working through her 2 year AP Advanced Placement Art Program during her High School years. She also attended UC Santa Cruz where she enjoyed studying Fine Art, Buddhist Art History, Theater Acting and Marine Biology. Her love of Buddhist Art, the Ocean, water, and nature influence her work.
Samantha has created as signature technique for creating the background of her paintings. She uses several layers of thin paint, a spray bottle, brushes and the rest is her vision.
Currently on Showtime, she plays ‘Kate’ in the ‘Shoot the Hero’ by Christian Sesma. She received rave review for her starring role alongside Jason Mewes, and Danny Trejo. The film was also released on Demand through Warner Brothers and premiered at the Palm Springs Film Festival. More than 4 of her paintings were used and featured in the film.
By 18, she was a successful infomercial host and model for Thane Marketing International. By age 20 she was landing films and beginning to take modeling jobs. She has appeared in some music videos, commercials, print campaigns including Old Navy, and most notably in CSI: New York, and a recent popular Superbowl season Miller Light Commercial. She got her first role in and Lords of Dogtown and was named ‘the hottest girl in the movie’ by Maxim Magazine. Recently she was selected as an upcoming ‘Starlet’ to watch by Esquire Magazine and became a featured actress on their website.The photos were part of a series titled Me In My Place and the pictorial took place in her home and in her element: painting in front of her canvases and practicing yoga in her room.
Due to her success with acting and modeling Samantha found less time for painting until she met the famous Japanese artist Muramasa Kudo who encouraged her not to stop painting. He claimed that with her raw artistic talent she should paint no matter what happened in her acting career. In 2007 they had a joint show in Palm Desert, CA and a five page spread in the Desert Life Magazine which became a favorite of the media. ( see kudostudio.com to view Kudo’s work.
Her widespread notoriety is reaching far and wide not only for her looks, acting chops and artistic talent but soon her paintings will be on a new line of clothing Yurosek. A line dedicated to making wearable art T-Shirts and namely Yoga Jeans which take glamorous denim to a whole new level; comfortable. The line launches in 2012 with Samantha as the main artist behind the brand.
Recently, Samantha has also received rave reviews for her lead role as Kate in the ‘Shoot the Hero’ by Christian Sesma currently airing on Showtime for a 5 month TV airing schedule summer 2011. She stars alongside Jason Mewes, and Danny Trejo. The film was also released on Demand through Warner Brothers and premiered at the Palm Springs Film Festival. More than 4 of her paintings were used and featured in the film.
